Nine Killed in Plane Crash Nine Miles from Trump’s Residence
A private passenger jet has crashed in Palm Beach, Florida, killing all nine people on board, including the pilot.
The crash site is approximately nine miles from Mar-a-Lago, the private residence of US President Donald Trump.
The aircraft crashed near the Cresthaven area at around 12:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, November 1.
Images from the scene showed a large crater in a residential street, with burn marks around it. Aircraft wreckage, broken concrete and other debris were scattered across the road.
In a statement, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the Learjet 60 had departed from Austin, Texas, and was heading to the Bahamas.
Speaking at a press conference after the crash, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said, “The video is chilling. It looks like a missile coming down. Then there is a huge explosion, with debris flying everywhere.”
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy described the crash as “deeply tragic.” He said the FAA had sent a team to the scene to assist the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) with its investigation.
