The government has officially launched an online housing allocation service to make the process more transparent, simple, fast and user-friendly.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher inaugurated the online publication of allocation results at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday (October 15).
Applications were accepted from September 16 to 30 for 54 vacant government residences in different categories. A total of 596 applications were submitted. After verification, 342 applications were accepted, while 254 were rejected for failing to meet the required conditions.
Previously, the allocation process was completed manually and had faced complaints of irregularities, bribery and the influence of dishonest groups.
Under the new system, applicants will be able to view their allocation results online. The authorities expect the service to reduce delays and inconvenience while improving transparency, accountability and access to information.
