Journalist Shot Dead in Netrokona
A journalist was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Netrokona’s Durgapur upazila on Thursday night (October 15).
The victim was identified as Lutfozzaman Alif Fakir, a Netrokona correspondent for the internet-based television channel Ruposhi Bangla. He also operated a Facebook page called “Detective Article,” where he wrote about crimes and various irregularities.
According to witnesses, Alif was leaving a tea shop at a local market at around 8:15 pm when two young men approached and fired several shots at him. The attackers then fled on a motorcycle.
Local residents took him to the upazila health complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Netrokona Superintendent of Police Tarikul Islam visited the scene and said the incident appeared to be a planned murder. Police have launched an operation to identify and arrest those responsible.
Alif had previously survived an attack in November last year, when unidentified assailants hacked and seriously injured him near the Someshwari River.
