Seven Arrested, Including Five Government Employees, Over Youth Development Exam Question Leak

THT Report • October 16, 2026
The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has arrested seven people, including five government employees, over the leak of question papers for the Department of Youth Development’s Assistant Upazila Youth Development Officer recruitment examination.
The arrested government employees work at the Department of Environment, the National Board of Revenue and the Ministry of Defence. Two job seekers were also arrested.
SRB-3 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Fayezul Arefin disclosed the information at a press conference in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar on Friday (October 16).
Stamps, bank cheques, certificates, national identity cards, examination admit cards and mobile phones were recovered from the suspects. A preliminary investigation found that the group allegedly demanded between Tk 800,000 and Tk 1 million from each job seeker.
The arrests were made during operations in Dhaka and nearby areas between October 14 and 16. The Department of Youth Development filed a case with Motijheel Police Station on October 11.
The screening test for 242 vacant posts was scheduled for October 10, with around 319,000 applicants. The authorities suspended the examination after confirming the question paper leak shortly before the test was due to begin.
