THT Report • October 23, 2026
More than 300 tourists escaped safely after a fire broke out at The Sea Presence residential hotel in the Sugandha Point area of Cox’s Bazar.
The fire started in the hotel’s ground-floor parking area at around 4:00 pm on Friday (October 23), causing panic among the guests. They quickly left the building, preventing a major tragedy.
A Fire Service unit rushed to the scene after receiving the report. Firefighters and hotel staff brought the blaze under control after about half an hour. A generator and several sections of the parking area were damaged.
Cox’s Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Syed Muhammad Morshed Hossain said the fire may have originated from a short circuit in the generator. However, the exact cause will be confirmed after an investigation.
Hotel Managing Director Abdul Kader said the property had adequate firefighting equipment and that the staff’s quick response helped prevent a major accident. No casualties were reported, and all tourists were safe.
