28 Killed, Including Five Children, in Russian Attacks on Ukraine

THT Report • October 8, 2026

Russia launched a large wave of drone and missile attacks across Ukraine, including the northern region of Chernihiv.

At least 28 people, including five children, were killed in the attacks on Wednesday (October 7). More than 100 others were injured.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia used a large number of ballistic and cruise missiles, along with Shahed drones, in the attacks.

In a mocking remark, Zelensky said Russian President Vladimir Putin had given himself this kind of “birthday gift.”

He also claimed that Ukrainian forces had destroyed at least 44 Russian missiles and 117 drones.
